My radio career began in 1986. Since then, I've done literally hundreds of play-by-play broadcasts and, since 1997, a three-hour daily talk show on WMSP-AM in Montgomery. My partner is John Longshore; we specialize in great guests, solid reporting, and not taking ourselves too seriously. |

One of the nuances of a good sports-talk host is in giving the guest the impression that you're hanging on his every word, as though he's offering geopolitical theory.. Here John and I hone that skill with 1982 Heisman winner Herschel Walker. |

Left to right: me, NFL Hall-of-Famer Mike Singletary, John. Singletary's just told us that he'll be here all day, and "likes that kinda party." |

"Barry, here's how Ron Franklin does it..." On-air with ESPN football analyst Mike Gottfried; I've also worked with his brother Joe on hoops telecasts. |

A career highlight: Baseball Hall-of-Famer Brooks Robinson --evidently impressed with the definition in my biceps-- broadcasts baseball with me in 1993. War Memorial Stadium, Greensboro, NC |
